Trading platform’s international IR lead Jack Riehemann talks targeting, retail investors and jazz guitar
When Jack Riehemann, director and head of international investor relations at online broker-dealer Robinhood, talks about the biggest challenge of his career, he’s also talking about his biggest achievement: the turnaround in sentiment of a company that launched to democratize investing before finding itself in something of a post-Covid slump.
Talking to IR Impact, Riehemann shares the background work that went into that turnaround, as well as how the company makes sure retail holders – often also customers – are part of the conversation. He also tells us about Robinhood’s relationships with financial influencers and much more – including a passion for jazz guitar.
How did you find your way into investor relations?
I started my career at Vanguard but fairly quickly moved to a role in the corporate finance space, where I found myself in a corporate FP&A role at LPL Financial, another large public broker dealer. When I got hired there, I didn’t really know what IR was or what IR did, but naturally in that role I found myself doing a decent amount of cross-functional work with investor relations.
