Winners of the IR Magazine Awards – Canada announced

The best and brightest in the Canadian IR community gathered last night at the Fairmont Royal York to celebrate the IR Magazine Awards – Canada.

Greg Secord, vice president of investor relations at OpenText Corporation, was presented with the first award of the night: the lifetime achievement award. In his acceptance speech, Secord praised the inclusivity of the Canadian IR community and thanked his peers for their support.

ARC Resources was the biggest winner on the night, for the second consecutive year. The oil and gas producer won six awards, including best investor relations officer (small and mid-cap), won by Bevin Wirzba, senior vice president of capital markets and business development; best IR by a CEO or CFO (mid-cap), won by Myron Stadnyk, president and CEO; and best overall investor relations (mid-cap).

Agnico Eagle Mines took home three awards, for best investor relations (large cap); best investor relations by a CEO or CFO (large cap), won by Sean Boyd, vice chair and CEO; and best in sector – materials.

CGI Group’s executive vice president of global communications and investor relations Lorne Gorber collected the best investor relations officer (large cap) award as well as best in sector – information technology.

Altus Group rounded out the grand prix award categories, winning the best overall investor relations (small cap) and the best investor relations by a CEO or CFO (small cap), for Robert Courteau, Altus Group’s CEO – categories.

Jacqueline Wagenaar, vice president of investor relations and corporate communications at Guyana Goldfields, won the rising star award.
