IR Magazine spoke with Ole Søeberg, board member and adviser for Advice Capital’s Vision Fund, at the IR Magazine Global Forum 2019 in Paris, which took place on October 2-3.
Søeberg, who previously worked as an IR professional for 11 years, discussed the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in investment decision-making. He says in some cases analysts are starting to have better information about company performance than the companies themselves.
‘It’s not that new, because I used to do parallel processing in the 1990s, but now the machine power has become much better,’ Søeberg said. ‘The ability to use AI and big data has just been going up the last couple of years. I think we are very close, if it’s not already happened, to a completely new world of information that impacts stock prices.’
