IR Magazine speaks with president Courtney Craib in Toronto
At the IR Magazine Awards – Canada 2023, IR Magazine caught up with Courtney Craib, president of Craib Design & Communications, who spoke about helping companies meet today’s reporting challenges and the special nature of the Canadian IR community.
‘Last year, at this event, we announced – and were really happy to celebrate with everybody – our 50th anniversary,’ she said in a red-carpet interview. ‘Craib has been a key part of the Canadian investor relations community for 50 years.’
The firm’s work includes IPOs, annual reports and sustainability reporting, she said, noting that ESG has become ‘a major part of what we do. We support all of our clients, many of them here tonight, [with] writing, strategy, design and production of these reports and, hopefully, having them win something.’
Craib also discussed the work that goes into supporting companies and IR teams with their reporting output.
‘Often it’s teams of one or two,’ she said. ‘The fact that we have been around for 50 years is a big kudos to what that support is. We are their other arm. And sometimes people forget there’s so much work that goes into these pieces. We’re the hidden guys.’
The conversation finished with a discussion about the special nature of the Canadian IR community.
‘We love it,’ said Craib. ‘I walked in here tonight, and saw so many familiar faces… I have been part of this my whole life. I’m seeing faces here tonight that I saw 35 years ago. That’s amazing.
‘The Canadian IR community… there’s something special about it. And so walking in here, it’s hugs to everybody. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.’
