Women in IR: Marina Zakharova de Calero talks gender balance in IR

IR Magazine’s most recent Global IR Salary & Careers Report finds that while women in 2024 account for 48 percent of IR professionals globally, less than 40 percent of them occupy a head of IR role. And while some progress has been made, some argue those strides are far too slow.

As IR Magazine gears up to host the Women in IR Forum on May 23 in New York, we talk with Marina Zakharova de Calero former head of IR at Hyve and host of IRO Coffee Break network about the pace of change in achieving gender balance in the world of investor relations.

She discusses the challenges and opportunities for gender balance, highlighting the gap between perceived progress and reality. She also emphasizes the importance of cultural shifts, support mechanisms within companies and inclusive hiring policies to achieve diversity at the top level.
