Adobe names new vice president of IR as veteran Mike Saviage retires

Adobe, the US-based creative software company, has appointed Jonathan Vaas as its new vice president of investor relations. Vaas is now responsible for IR alongside his existing roles as associate general counsel and assistant secretary.

Vass joined Adobe in 2011 and has held roles of increasing seniority in the legal department. Currently, his team is responsible for all of the company’s corporate legal matters, covering areas such as governance, M&A and securities compliance.

Under his new duties, he reports jointly to Adobe’s CFO John Murphy and general counsel Dana Rao. Before moving to Adobe, Vass worked as an associate at law firms Sullivan & Worcester and Jones Day.

He takes over the IR reins from Mike Saviage, Adobe’s vice president of IR for the last 21 years, who is retiring from the company. In total, Saviage has spent 25 years with the publisher of software such as Photoshop and InDesign. Prior to joining the company, he worked as a professional services manager at Frame Technology, which was acquired by Adobe in 1995.

During Saviage’s time in the IR chair at Adobe, the company has regularly featured in IR Magazine’s Top 100 list of the best IR teams in the US. In 2016 it was also short-listed for the best IR in the technology sector award.

For the next few months, Saviage will continue to work for Adobe in an advisory role to help with the transition, explained Murphy on the company’s first-quarter earnings call last month.

‘As the head of investor relations, Mike has been an important champion of Adobe’s growth and transformation story over the past three decades,’ said Murphy on the call. ‘I want to thank [him] for his many contributions to Adobe and wish him well in his retirement.’
