At the IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2022, AstraZeneca was nominated for best IR in the healthcare sector. On the red carpet, IR Magazine caught up with global head of IR Andy Barnett to discuss the company’s work over the last year.
‘It’s been a remarkable year for AstraZeneca,’ said Barnett. ‘We’ve become a household name for vaccines against Covid. I’m pleased with the tremendous progress we have made against cancer – many, many types of cancer, most recently breast cancer.’
Asked about any IR lessons from the last 12 months, Barnett said: ‘The important thing is to make sure we keep regular contact with both the sell side and buy side, make sure we are giving a clear and accurate picture about what’s going on in the company as best we can and help people to make good decisions.’
The awards at the event were divided into two categories. Awards-by-research categories were decided by a survey of portfolio managers, buy-side analysts and sell-side analysts covering European companies. These awards included best overall IR, best IR officer and best IR by sector.
Awards-by-nomination categories saw IR teams and their advisers submit entries covering a range of IR practice areas, from best investor meetings to ESG reporting and use of multimedia, with the winners chosen by a panel of expert judges.
