At this year’s IR Magazine Awards – US, held in New York on March 30, IR Magazine spoke to Hope Dmuchowski, CFO at First Horizon Bank.
The company picked up four awards on the night:
– Best overall investor relations (mid-cap)
– Best investor relations officer (small to mid-cap)
– Best IR by a senior management team (small to mid-cap)
– Best in sector for financials.
‘Our IR team has had a heck of a few years,’ Dmuchowski said. ‘We just completed a merger of equals in the middle of the pandemic. We completed our client conversion and the next week announced that we were being acquired by TD Bank in an unprecedented and unexpected bid.’
Offering some advice to IROs for the next financial year, she added: ‘My best advice is always to be open, honest and available, no matter what’s happening or what the cycle is.
‘Whether you have a good story or bad story to tell, be the one out there telling it. Don’t let [other people] tell your story for you because you’re not talking to them.’
