Winners to be revealed at gala awards evening in London on Thursday, June 26
Two listed Spanish companies – electricity utility Iberdrola and financial group Banco Santander – are top of the most shortlists ahead of the IR Impact Awards – Europe 2025.
Iberdrola features across eight short lists, including the awards for best overall investor relations (large cap) and best investor relations officer (large cap) for Isabel Sanchez Herrero, the firm’s head of IR.
Meanwhile Banco Santander – which won two awards at last year’s event – contends seven categories, including a brand new award for 2025: best IR impact. Referencing the new name of this very publication, the category seeks to recognize the hard work of IR teams driving a significant change at their company, whether an unusual capital raise, navigating a tricky situation or finally landing an investor they have been courting.
Just behind them are German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and Spanish online travel company eDreams ODIGEO, each of which appear on five short lists. Among those, Infineon Technologies will compete for the first ever award for best sell-side management, which recognizes IR teams that have implemented new strategies for keeping up with the sell side, working with analysts and deriving the most from their relationships to best serve their corporate strategies.
UK drugmaker AstraZeneca and Italian banking group Intesa SanPaolo are both short listed for four awards, including the trophy for best overall investor relations (large cap) along with Iberdrola.

The IR Impact Awards – Europe 2025 will take place at the Peninsula, London on Thursday, June 26, 2025. This very special event honors excellence in the investor relations profession across Europe.
The awards themselves are split into two sections. The awards-by-research categories are decided by a survey of portfolio managers, buy-side analysts and sell-side analysts who cover European companies. They select the winners for the best overall IR, best IRO, best IR by a senior management team and best in sector categories.
The awards-by-nomination categories cover a range of IR practice areas, such as annual reports, ESG reporting, investor meetings, use of technology and crisis management. Companies are able to submit entries for the different awards, with the winners chosen by a panel of expert judges.
This year’s panel of judges are:
- Lorna Davie, president, IR Club.CH
- Heinrich Ey, director, CO-CIO German and European mid/small caps, Allianz Global Investors
- Simon Gleadhill, head of corporate, ESG and IFRS reporting, Howden Joinery Group
- Stefanie Mollin, portfolio manager, GIB Asset Management
- Amit Sanghvi, IR professional
- Gervais Williams, head of equities, Premier Miton Investors
- Laurie Havelock, editor, IR Impact.
