Plus new IROs in place at Teck Resources and Irish Residential Properties REIT
AI giant Anthropic has appointed a head of investor relations just ahead of confidentially filing for a US IPO, hot on the heels of SpaceX’s record-breaking debut and an anticipated listing for rival OpenAI.
Kenneth Dorrell, who previously served in Facebook owner Meta’s IR team for nine years, leading the IR function since April 2023, has joined Anthropic to help prepare the company for its stock market debut.
‘Today is my first day at Anthropic, where I’ve joined as head of investor relations,’ Dorrell writes on LinkedIn. ‘I have admired what this company has accomplished in just five years, in particular the way they have developed AI at the frontier while making safety a core part of how it’s built. It is a privilege to now partner with the talented team here to help investors follow Anthropic’s progress in pursuit of our mission.’
Prior to working at Meta, Dorrell worked as a senior associate, internet equity research, for Citi, and as a research associate, water and agriculture equity research, at Janney Montgomery Scott.
Elsewhere, TSX-listed metals company Teck Resources has announced the hiring of Edwin Shadeo as its acting vice president, investor relations and treasurer.
He succeeds Emma Chapman, who has left the company ‘to pursue new professional opportunities’.
Shadeo joined Teck in 2005 as strategic analyst, business development, coal, and has held progressively senior leadership roles in the firm’s IR, corporate development and treasury functions, as well as the office of the president and CEO. He began his career as an investment analyst for Hewitt Associates.
‘As treasurer, Edwin has developed extensive relationships within the capital markets community, building on his deep understanding of our business,’ says Teck’s president and CEO Jonathan Price.
‘This, combined with his long-standing experience in investor relations, equips him well to lead our engagement with shareholders. I would also like to thank Emma for her leadership and outstanding contributions to Teck during her time as vice president, investor relations.’
Meanwhile, Euronext-listed Irish Residential Properties REIT (I-RES) has brought in Orla Keegan as its new head of investor relations.
She joins the residential rental accommodation provider’s team from FINEOS Corporation, where she served as head of investor relations since 2019, leading the function for the ASX-listed enterprise software company. Prior to that, Keegan was executive director and head of Sydney office at Australian IR advisory Market Eye, held investor relations and regulatory reporting roles with Macquarie Group and began her professional career with PwC.
‘I am delighted to join I-RES at such an important stage in the company’s development,’ Keegan says. ‘I look forward to working closely with Eddie [Byrne, CEO], the executive team and the board to deepen engagement with shareholders and analysts, communicate the company’s growth story and support the continued delivery of value for all stakeholders.’
Finally, Dutch financial institution ING has promoted current senior investor relations officer Bob Bakker to head its IR team, as outgoing boss Sjoerd Miltenburg takes up a new post as head of wholesale banking in the Netherlands.
Bakker has been part of ING’s IR team since 2019, prior to which he held several senior finance roles within the bank, including head of finance business partnering at ING Bank Romania and head of finance management information and advice at ING Group.
ING’s CFO Ida Lerner says: ‘Bob brings deep investor relations expertise and a strong understanding of ING’s strategy and performance. His strong track record in engaging with investors and advising the executive board makes him well placed to lead our investor relations function and his experience will be key to communicating our performance and long-term value creation to investors, supporting our ambition to become the best European bank.’
