The CFO: ‘Tokenization is becoming an important part of how people invest,’ says Streamex’s finance chief Christine Plummer

Former Morgan Stanley auditor and consultant says what she enjoys most about the role is putting numbers into context for both internal and external audiences

Few forces on the markets threaten to change the day-to-day working of IROs as much as the tokenization of securities. With some exchanges already experimenting with tracking share trades on blockchain, the technology has the potential to transform ownership practices and how shareholder engagement takes place at a fundamental level.

For Christine Plummer, CFO at Nasdaq-listed technology company Streamex, that transformation is already taking place. The firm is focused on digital asset and real-world asset tokenization – effectively making things like gold leasing programs or traditional commodities available to be traded through financial instruments.

In this exclusive interview for IR Impact’s The CFO series, she tells us more about how tokenization and blockchain will come to define the capital markets in the near future, why strategy is a key undertaking for any leading IRO and how she nearly ended up in a career in healthcare.
