Adapting to change in Greater China: IR strategies for a sustainable, digital and global era
The investor relations landscape in Greater China is being reshaped by rapid technological advances, growing ESG expectations, tighter budgets and increasing geopolitical pressures. Digital tools such as automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transforming how companies and their stakeholders analyze data, engage target investors and communicate effectively – but they also raise new limitations around governance, data security and engagement. Concurrently, regulatory shifts and growing scrutiny on sustainability demand greater transparency and innovative approaches to bridging expertise and data gaps.
Geopolitical dynamics, market volatility and currency fluctuations add further complexity, influencing capital flows, investor sentiment and the strategies companies must adopt to maintain trust and long-term support. For small and mid-cap firms, these challenges are compounded by barriers to visibility and liquidity in highly competitive markets.
THE FORUM
The event begins with our IR forum where investors, analysts, senior management and heads of IR from small, mid-cap and large-cap companies come together to discuss key issues and share award-winning best practices for investor relations, sustainability, corporate governance and communications.
The forum will highlight practical strategies for leveraging technology responsibly, meeting rising ESG standards, engaging effectively across diverse investor bases and building resilience in an unstable market environment.
THE AWARDS
We present two types of awards categories – researched and nominated – both celebrating the success of those individuals and companies that are leading the way in IR in Greater China.
For our researched categories, companies do not submit nominations. Instead, hundreds of analysts and investors casted their votes and gave their opinions on which companies do the best IR in the region.
In our nominated categories, companies have the opportunity to submit a written entry for aspects of IR that complement our researched categories. More information can be found in the sections below.

Finding the right fit: How to target effectively in a rapidly changing global market
In today’s volatile global capital environment, investor relations officers (IROs) are under pressure to find innovative strategies beyond broad outreach to engage with the right investors. With Asian equities seeing strong growth over the last decade, Hong Kong emerging as a global hub, and US investors continuing to play a pivotal role, IROs must balance geopolitical complexities, cross-border regulations, and shifting investor appetites to succeed in this global market.

With OTC Markets at the forefront of cross-border investor access, this discussion will highlight practical frameworks, case studies, and market insights that help issuers enhance visibility, foster investor trust, and mitigate risk in a rapidly evolving environment..

Maximizing valuation: Delivering a compelling investment case to the right investors
Creating value in Asia’s markets requires a compelling equity story and disciplined investor focus. For CFOs and IR teams, it’s not enough to have a strong narrative: delivering the right message to the right investors, using the most effective engagement approaches, is vital.
This panel draws on real examples from across the region, highlighting how companies can sharpen their investment case by acting on investor feedback, focusing on long only investors, and using Capital Markets Days to shape expectations and drive valuation.

- Real-world case studies: Hear real world case studies on leading companies from across the Greater China region and the financial sector.

Artificial intelligence: How IR can keep pace with investors and analysts
The buy-side and sell-side are already leveraging AI to analyze companies, their disclosures and their earnings, and the rate of adoption is rapid. IR teams need to examine the impact of AI on the investor relations function – both in terms of how investors get their information and how they can improve their communications.
This session will demonstrate how to develop an effective AI strategy for investor relations, focusing on both how IR teams can implement AI in their own role and how to adapt to the use of AI by their stakeholders.
- Discuss how investors are using AI, why IR needs to adapt and how to catch up with investors.
- Understand the security or ROI considerations from open-source, enterprise and purpose-built AI tools.
- Learn how to strategize implementation by mapping traditional IR responsibilities to AI capabilities.

Expert IROs will share tangible and innovative ways to improve targeting strategies, leverage digital platforms for IR, improve virtual and in-person roadshow results and increase visibility among new investors.

Best buy-side management *NEW FOR 2025*
Finding new ways to collaborate with investors and other buy-side participants is a core part of every IR program. In this category, we’re looking for examples of how teams have found new routes to reach and work alongside the buy side, whether that’s through providing an innovative corporate access opportunity, creating new communications materials or introducing a new event format.
Best CEO letter *NEW FOR 2025*
The letter from the chief executive is both an important force for communicating key messages and tone, and an area ripe for innovation. From video to AI to a new style that better captures the investment story, we want to hear how you’ve been elevating the CEO letter. Tell us about your thought process, how you implemented change, where tech is supporting your efforts and how this vital segment of the annual report has been received.
Best innovation in shareholder communications
Judges are looking for IR teams who have had to think out of the box in the past 12-18 months to update their shareholder communications campaign and keep up with the evolving needs and wants of the investor community. We’re looking for that tiny little spark of innovation that sets your company apart!
Best investor event
Did you hold a capital markets day, site visit or other investor event that made your company stand out from the crowd? Tell us how you came up with an original initiative, the way you managed its organization, and how your audience’s expectations were met; audience feedback is also welcome. Both virtual and in-person events can be considered for this award.
Best investor targeting strategy
Have you gone above and beyond to reach new investors and tell your company story? Have you recently changed your targeting strategy to reach new prospects, adapt to adversarial circumstances, or get a better return from your investor engagements? We want to hear from you.
Our judges will look for innovative use of data and analysis to optimize your marketing schedule and provide better returns on your IR department and management’s time on the road and at conferences.
Best IR during a corporate transaction
How did your IR team go above and beyond to support a recent corporate transaction? Let us know the details. We’ll be looking at the IR team’s involvement in crafting/releasing the messaging for the financial markets and how it organized outreach and dialogue to gain approval from key shareholders.
Best IR impact *NEW FOR 2025*

Best sell-side management *NEW FOR 2025*
Working closely with analysts is a core part of many IR programs, but it can pose a challenge when thinking about how to prioritize your time and focus on your company’s sell-side followers. In this category we are looking for teams that have implemented new strategies for keeping up with the sell side, working with analysts and deriving the most from their relationships to best serve their corporate strategies.

Have you harnessed cutting-edge technology like AI to enhance your IR efforts?
In this new category, we want to hear about how you have used tools to overcome IR challenges, create efficiencies, enhance intelligence or improve the quality of your IR activities. Judges want to hear about the tools you have used in your IR efforts, how you used them and the measures implemented to ensure safe and responsible use of technology.
Rising star
This award seeks to honor individuals who bring fresh thinking and a unique approach to the profession. This category is open to anyone who has been working in IR for less than 10 years and has less than 15 years of professional experience.
How the winners are chosen +
The awards-by-nomination categories differ from our traditional researched awards, as individuals and companies are given the opportunity to submit written entries, free of charge, to be put forward to a panel of expert judges made up of investment professionals, IR experts and IR Impact editorial team members.
The judges’ votes are not made public, but their comments may be published in articles or reports after the event. Judges are not required to make comments against every submission.
The judging process consists of three simple phases:
Phase one
Once the entry deadline has passed, the IR Impact editorial team reviews all submissions and produces the shortlist
Phase two
The shortlisted entries are shared with an independent judging panel made up of industry experts. The judges review each shortlisted entry based on four criteria scoring each criterion on a scale from 1 to 5. The scores for all four criteria are then summed to produce a total score for each entry per judge.
The IR Impact awards team receives the results and contacts all shortlisted companies to give them the good news. The shortlists are then published to the entire IR community a month before the event.
Phase three
The judges come together to discuss, debate and select the final list of winners who will go on to win an award

How the winners are chosen +
The first thing to explain is that our awards are different from most others: for our awards by research, companies do not submit nominations. The winners are identified by in-depth research and any publicly traded company is eligible to be considered. This survey is the only one of its kind to go directly to the investment community, canvassing the opinions of the people who matter to you most.
May-August: Online survey
IR Impact has been building investment community databases over the past 35 years. As part of the updating process, listed companies are contacted every year for details of the professionals who currently cover their stock. IR Magazine then conducts an electronic survey of buy-side and sell-side analysts and portfolio managers. Each survey respondent is asked to nominate and rank up to five companies in a host of different research categories, from best IRO to best reporting.
September-October: Results analysis & shortlists announced
Analysis of the results begins once the survey stage of the research is complete. Points are allocated to each company depending on how frequently it is nominated. The companies with the highest point scores in each individual awards category make the short list for that award. The top company will go on to win the award. Best-in-sector awards are determined by the highest aggregate scores across all research categories.
The IR Impact awards team receives the results and contacts all shortlisted companies to give them the good news. The shortlists are then published to the entire IR community a month before the event.
November: Winners announced
The winners are announced at our awards ceremony, which is attended by the leading lights of the Asian investor relations community.
